The Marketers’ Anthem
For Strategy Magazine
Early in my career, I had the chance to create something for Strategy Magazine’s Marketer of the Year issue. I was still figuring out advertising—and honestly, wasn’t sure how marketing was different—but I knew one thing: marketers were the ones who asked us to create anthems.
This was an anthem for the anthem-makers themselves.
Inspired by the brand anthems I was discovering—and being asked to write at the time—it became a tongue-in-cheek celebration of the people behind them. An early experiment in turning writing into rhythm, and in rallying a real audience through words and music.
